Day 1: Rabat

Day 1: Rabat image

Your Moroccan Adventure Begins!

Highlights: Hassan II Mosque + multiple UNESCO-listed Rabat sites

After pick ups, we'll immediately immerse into the interesting world of Islam with a visit to the exquisite and awe-inspiring Hassan II mosque, the only mosque in Morocco open to non-Muslims.

Afterwards we'll make our way to Rabat where we'll lunch at a favorite restaurant before meeting our private city guide for a half day tour of the imperial capital city. Rabat was recently listed as a 2026 Top Destination by National Geographic in their "Best of the World" travel guide..

Highlights include the Mohammed V Mausoleum with its exquisite zellige tilework, the Hassan Tower and Great Mosque minaret, and views of Rabat’s modern landmarks, including the Zaha Hadid–designed Grand Theatre. We'll explore multiple UNESCO-listed sites including the Kasbah des Oudaias and its Andalusian Gardens, and Chellah, featuring ancient Phoenician and Roman ruins, serene gardens and cafe, stork nests, and views toward the Mohammed VI Tower.

Overnight in a boutique riad in the medina of Rabat-Sale': The Repose (dinner reserved + breakfast included)

Day 2: Atlantic Coast

Friday, April 17
Day 2: Atlantic Coast image

Highlight: Lunch and wander in the tiny seaside village of Asilah

After a delicious Moroccan breakfast on the rooftop of our riad, we will be on our way to Tangier by way of the coastal highway.  If time permits,  we will stop in beautiful Asilah, a seaside village known for its fresh fish, painted murals and many artists and artisans. A short wander through the delightful seaside Medina before heading on to Tangier is always fun.

We'll reach Tangier in the late afternoon. This famously cosmopolitan seaside city is the oldest in Morocco, with roots stretching back 4,000 years. Tangier sits at the Strait of Gibraltar, a narrow strait that connects the Atlantic Ocean to the Mediterranean Sea and separates Europe from Africa.

Overnight at a serene villa in the hills of Tangier: Dar Tanja (dinner available + breakfast included)

Day 3: Tangier

Saturday, April 18
Day 3: Tangier image

Full Day in Tangier

Highlight: Rooftop lunch with beautiful views of the Mediterranean Sea + half day private tour of Tangier

After breakfast in the terrace, we begin our exploration of Tangier. Along the coast we start with a visit to Cap Spartel, the entrance to the Strait of Gibraltar where the Atlantic and the Mediterranean Sea meet. A visit to the Lighthouse for views of the coast is recommended. The Cave Hercules is also a wonderful, quick stop where the group can view the sea through an Africa shaped opening in the cave. (Skip the kitschy museum at the cave). The Punic tombs, outside the Medina and overlooking the Straits of Gibraltar, date back to the Phonecian occupation of the city thousands of years ago.

Lunch is recommended on the rooftop at Macondo, an Italian-Moroccan restaurant a few steps from the Kasbah Museum in the old Medina. Macondo offers stunning views of the city, a beautiful menu and  charming decor spread across its four floors and rooftop terrace.

After lunch, our private guide will meet the group for a half day tour of the Tangier Medina. Tangier has a lively whitewashed, hillside Medina and souk as well as the oldest American embassy in the world, the American Legation. It is open to the public and very interesting. Few people know that Morocco was the first country in the world to recognize the independence of the United States.

Day 4: Chefchaouen

Sunday, April 19
Day 4: Chefchaouen image

Scenic Drive through the Rif Mountains

Highlight: Hike to the Spanish Mosque at sunset for gorgeous views of Chefchaouen as the sun goes down

After leaving Tangier, we will follow the coastal road past the Spanish enclave of Ceuta, one of the last colonial possessions in Africa and the only EU African land border. The road continues with great views of the Rock of Gibraltar on a clear day. The scenic drive to Chefchaouen is along a beautiful modern mountain road. The giant cement “gutters” that direct excess water off the hillside during the rainy season are fascinating.

Chefchaouen is Morocco's famous blue city; almost everything, from the streets themselves to the houses and decoration, is painted in near luminous shades of deep blue. The area is famous for the cultivation of marijuana, which technically illegal, might explain the relaxed ambiance - it's a very fun, low-pressure shopping opportunity.

Stay in a lovely small riad up a tiny lane: Dar Meziana (breakfast included)

Day 5: Chefchaouen

Day 5: Chefchaouen image

Highlight: Hundreds of tiny shops to explore

A full day to wander where you please.  Visit the Spanish Mosque at sunset, eat crepes at Todas, a cute little stand and drink fresh-squeezed pomegranate juice from #Saidjuiceseller.  Enjoy all of the little shops, and get lost in the winding paths (don’t worry, you’ll be able to find your way back again!) and take LOTS of photos! Or take a nap! This day is yours to do as you wish. Chefchaouen is a magical paradise of vibrant color!

Day 6: Volubilis

Tuesday, April 21
Day 6: Volubilis image

Scenic Drive from Chefchaouen to Volubilis to Fes

Highlight: UNESCO World Heritage Archeological Site

In the morning we'll head south through the Rif mountains, an impressive drive along the green low mountains and narrow valleys.

A favorite daily ritual while driving through the countryside is to stop midday at a roadside nous nous stand to enjoy "nous nous normal", a hot coffee similar to a cortado with half frothy milk and half espresso and a sugar cube on the side.

We will stop in Volubilis, the 3rd century BC Roman capital. The vast site includes a triumphal arch, temple and forum, but the highlights are the remarkable, often amusing mosaics.  On the hill outside the ruins sits the whitewashed village of Moulay Iddris, the spiritual capitol of Morocco. Evening will find us winding down into Fes.

Overnight in Fes at a beautifully restored riad: Zawiat of Fes (breakfast included).

Day 7: Fes

Wednesday, April 22
Day 7: Fes image

Full Day Tour of Fes with Private Guide

Highlight: Handmade Carpets, pottery, lanterns, leather + more

Fes El Bali (Fes) is the spiritual heart and the first and greatest Imperial City of Morocco. The old Fes enclave is the largest and oldest intact medieval walled city in the world with 14 gates, more than 9000 narrow streets, 11 “madrassas” (Koranic schools),  320 mosques, 270 “foundouks” (small inns) and 200 hammams.

Fes has many dim alley ways winding endlessly up and down and your guide knows them all!  You will see the royal palace and “the Karouine” mosque, the second largest in North Africa and oldest university in the world. We'll see hundreds of craftsmen, merchants and citizens. Highlights are the Zillige tile factories, great rug houses hidden behind carved wooden doors and the oldest and largest tannery in the world. Fes is a majestic, inspirational and wondrous place.

Girls Day in Fes with Private Guide

Highlight: Moroccan Hammam Experience

A highlight of Fes is always "Girl's Day". We spend an extra day with our guide doing “all of the things that she might do with her sisters or friends.”

Is there something special you are looking for? Do you want to know what is behind the many doors of the Medina? Your private guide can show you hidden guesthouses and take you to visit craftsmen, bakers, preschools… Your day will unfold in a magical way that won’t be forgotten.

The day can conclude with a visit to a Moroccan Hammam in late afternoon for a ritualistic bath and scrub. You can participate privately, with a friend or in a public group. If our guide accompanies the group, it is customary to treat her to spa services as an extra thank you.

Day 9: Midelt

Friday, April 24
Day 9: Midelt image

Middle Atlas Mountains and Valleys

general icon

Highlight: Barbary Macaque

Come morning we'll be on the road again, as we travel up into the Middle Atlas on our way to the Sahara, the landscape changes from the olive groves that surround the city of Fes to fruit trees, limestone plateaus, then dense cedar forests as the road climbs.

At around a mile high we will pause at the hill station of Ifrane. Inspired by Swiss Alpine architecture, the model town was built as a retreat from the summer heat by the ruling classes, although these days it's just as popular for winter sports. The town is dominated by the Royal palace, the five-star Michlefin hotel and the country's most prestigious university, a joint project between the Moroccan and Saudi Kings.

After Ifrane the road continues to climb into an area with a striking volcanic landscape. The area's main ski run is set up inside the crater of a long extinct volcano. We’ll also drive through a forest with Barbary Macaque and we’ll stop to see the little monkeys near the side of the road.

The road reaches around 6500' altitude on two passes crossing the Middle Atlas, before dropping down into the high plains of the desert side of the country.

Overnight in Midelt at a quaint auberge: Riad Ville Pomme d'Or (dinner + breakfast included)

Day 10: Sahara Glamping experience

Saturday, April 25
Day 10: Sahara Glamping experience image

From the Apple Capital of the Atlas Mountains to the Red Dunes of the Sahara

Highlight: Sunset camel ride and luxury glamping

After the summit you begin to follow the course of the River Ziz (gazelle in Berber), which turns into a spectacular gorge north of Errahidia. The Ziz Gorge is well known for date production and the local dates can be bought from the farmers by the side of the road.

By late afternoon we’ll leave the paved road and will be at the edge of the Sahara at Erg Chebbi, known for its towering sand dunes.

We'll arrive in time to head into the dunes via camels. Camels are gentle, majestic beasts and the journey into the dunes can be magical.  Make sure to have a scarf available so that our Berber guides can wrap your head in the classic Berber style. Erg Chebbi is famous for its ability to change color in different lights, and as the shadows lengthen on the dunes great photographs are almost guaranteed.

At the camp we’ll enjoy a wonderful Moroccan meal followed by an unforgettable evening under the stars with traditional Berber entertainment.

The night sky here is superb, with the Milky Way frequently visible.

Overnight in a luxury Sahara Camp: Camp Madu (dinner + breakfast included).

Day 11: Dades Gorges

Sunday, April 26
Day 11: Dades Gorges image

Off-the-Beaten-Path Morocco

Highlight: The stark beauty of the High Atlas

After viewing the sunrise from the dunes and a generous breakfast at the camp, it's off across open desert once more before we pick up the surfaced road once more at Erfoud. We will pause to visit the vast underground irrigation systems that once fed the oasis, before stopping for lunch at a fortified village. There's a small but interesting private museum of Berber and Jewish culture, and a shady garden with vegan friendly food.

After lunch we will travel into the Dades Gorges, famous for its exquisite rock formations, the most famous of which are the 'Monkey Fingers.

Stay at a historic 18th century fortress-turned-auberge set back into the cliff face, with some of the best food east of the Atlas: The Citadel (dinner + breakfast included)

Day 12: Road of a Thousand Kasbahs

Monday, April 27
Day 12: Road of a Thousand Kasbahs image

A Spectacular Journey through the High Atlas Mountains

Highlight: Dramatic Scenery and Cultural Immersion

The road from Dades Gorges to Ouarzazate and Marrakech is a spectacular journey through Morocco's stunning High Atlas known as the "Road of a Thousand Kasbahs", featuring winding mountain passes, dramatic red rock gorges, traditional Berber villages, lush palm groves and crumbling adobe fortresses (kasbahs) all of which contrast with the arid desert landscape and breathtaking scenery. This route provides a true taste of Moroccan nature and culture.

With scenery like this, it's understandable that the Berber capital of Ouarzazate is famous as the center of Morocco's booming film industry. Game of Thrones, Gladiator, The Mummy, Babel and other movie adventures have all been filmed here. Beyond Ouarzazate our group will follow the route taken by the camel caravans across the Atlas, and passing the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ait Benhaddou.

We’ll rejoin the modern route of the pass just before the summit at 2200 meters. The newly improved road winds down to Marrakech in spectacular style.

We'll reach Marrakech by the late afternoon and be escorted right to the door of our riad: Riad Zebrakaro (breakfast included)

Day 13: Marrakech

Tuesday, April 28
Day 13: Marrakech image

A Captivating Blend of Ancient Tradition and Modern Energy

Highlight: Full day private tour of the Red City

After a full Moroccan breakfast at our riad, the group sets out with a private local guide to explore the Red City of Marrakech—a wild, vibrant metropolis unlike anywhere else in Morocco. Within this kinetic, walled Islamic city, we begin at the grounds of the Koutoubia Mosque, learning about its history before diving into the UNESCO-listed Medina. Highlights include the beautifully preserved Bacha Museum, Lazama Synagogue, the historic Jewish Quarter (the Mellah), and Le Jardin Secret—an oasis of calm combining traditional architecture, rich history, and a charming café overlooking lush gardens.

Time spent in Jemaa el-Fna, Marrakech’s iconic central square, is unforgettable. By day, the square comes alive with snake charmers and Barbary apes; by late afternoon, it transforms into a vast open-air night market—a swirling spectacle of smoke, lights, magicians, storytellers, and intoxicating aromas. Adventurous eaters can sample street foods ranging from sheep’s heads to anise-seed-flavored snails, alongside more familiar Moroccan favorites. The square is walkable from your riad, making it an easy destination before, after, or FOR dinner.

Overnight in Marrakech at boutique riad: Riad Zebrakaro (breakfast included).

Travel Tips

Travel Tips image

Fitness Level

While not overly strenuous, there will be days when you walk a lot (10,000+ steps unless it’s a travel day). Historic riads don’t have elevators and your room might be on an upper floor. Breakfast is nearly always served on the terrace/rooftop. Lanes are cobbled stone and have uneven surfaces. Some locationsare hilly/mountainous and you must be able to navigate many uneven steps up and down. Good, supportive shoes are a must and “fashion shoes” will make you miserable and could ruin your trip.  Hiking boots are not necessary. Please be prepared for moderate physical exercise.

Travel Light

Please plan to travel with carry-on luggage and a small backpack only.

Many riads/guest houses are located within pedestrian only areas of the Medina (old walled cities). You will need to transport your own luggage from the van to the riad along cobbled lanes. (Don’t worry! We will share a strategy for packing everything you need).  We will also provide tips on appropriate dress while traveling in Morocco prior to your travel. Plan to dress modestly out of respect for local culture.

In addition, traveling with carry-on luggage while on your way to Morocco ensures that you (and your luggage) will arrive together after your international flight and the group will be able to be on its way promptly once everyone arrives in Morocco. We'll provide suggestions on how best to get your souvenirs home!

Money

Morocco is a cash culture. Use of credit cards is rare and expensive for the merchant but might be an option at larger stores.  Nearly everything else requires cash, including extras at your riad. Plan to use the ATM in the airport or an ATM at a bank near your riad for cash. (Depending on the exchange rate, 100 MAD = about $10 USD). We recommend withdrawing a few thousand Moroccan dirham (MAD) the first day and replenish as needed. ATMs are everywhere!

*The Moroccan dirham (MAD) is a closed currency meaning it is not available outside of the country. If your bank tells you they can get "dirham" for you, you will end up with UAE dirham which is not legal tender in Morocco.

Haggling, Dickering & Negotiating Prices

This is tricky because Moroccans are motivated sellers.  If you do not like the price offered, you can ask if it is their best price, make a counter offer or say thank you and walk away. If you want to make a purchase, it's helpful to settle a price in your head that you are willing to pay and negotiate toward that goal. Please do not insult the shopkeeper with a ridiculously low request or engage in long negotiations for items you have no intention of buying. Many items are handmade, not machine made, and beautifully made textiles are worth the price. It's likely that we can afford to be generous, especially when the difference is only a few dollars.

The best way to handle persistent street sellers is to clearly decline their offer. Telling a street seller how beautiful their item is and then “no” will not deter them from seeking the sale as they only hear you say you like it and will continue pressing to see if you will change your mind.

A Word About Children

You will occasionally see children selling trinkets, tissues or begging for money. Please DO NOT purchase anything from them or EVER give them money. Keep in mind that an ADULT is directing them to sell items and this is considered trafficking. In poorer countries, it is possible children are kept home from school to earn money. Kindly tell them “la” (no) “Shukran” (thank you) and walk away.

Meals

Eating in Morocco is very affordable and Moroccan dishes are wholesome and savory. Alcohol is typically not available in restaurants but can be acquired with the help of your driver, and brought to the restaurant, if you’d like.

Paying your tabs individually can be time consuming which is why past groups have agreed to alternate who picks up the tab and split it evenly among all the diners. We suggest using a “expense splitting app” like Settle Up or Splitwise to keep track of meals or other collective purchases, like museum entrances. This app allows you to split purchases among all the members or just a few. Everyone downloads the app and can make entries or one person can be in charge. At the end of your travels, it’s easy to see how much each person owes and to balance expenses.

Moroccan meals also tend to be LARGE. In past trips, guests either split meals, have eaten family style OR decided collectively to eat two meals a day (+ a snack) instead of three big meals.  It’s up to you and your group to decide what works best for you!

If your private guide is dining with you, it’s customary to cover the cost of their meals and split between all guests.

Medical Essentials

Pack all the medical essentials you think you might need. Yes, everything is available locally, but if you need Imodium because you have GI issues, you need it NOW, not later. Include Imodium (or something similar), Pepto Bismol, cold medicine, nausea meds, pain reliever, icy hot for sore muscles, antibiotics, etc.

This itinerary includes unpaved roads that are twisty and bumpy in places. Please plan ahead and bring something to combat car sickness. It’s not possible for everyone to sit in the front seat. In fact, we recommend alternating who sits in the front seat so that each person gets a chance to get to know our driver.

Language

Our tour guides are multi-lingual, speaking English and often French and/or Spanish in addition to their native languages.

Morocco's official languages are Modern Standard Arabic and Tamazight (native Amazigh/Berber) but the most commonly spoken language is Darija (the Moroccan Arabic dialect). Due to historical influences French is widely spoken and Spanish is common in the north. English is widely spoken by busy shopkeepers but it's always a courtesy to greet someone in their native language before switching to English.

We will provide some helpful words and phrases in Darija and Tamazight that you can use. Locals will appreciate, and be impressed, by your efforts!

Create a Go Bag

Plan to carry a small "go bag" (cinch sack or small nylon bag/backpack) with you every day (this can be stored in the van). Your bag should include a hat (if you use one), sunscreen, water, snack and anything else you might need for the day. If you are on a city tour or hike, you will be outside the majority of the time and need protection from the sun (even if it is cloudy). Your "go bag" will insure you are always prepared for the day.

Cell Service

You will need an international calling plan or E-SIM service if you plan to use your phone during your stay, when not connected to WIFI.  You can rely on WIFI Only to make and receive calls and texts when you are at your accommodations.  If your phone is “unlocked” you can purchase E-SIM services from a company like airalo.com for a reasonable fee.  If you still owe a balance on your phone, you will need to use your provider’s international plan.

Public Restrooms

Some public restrooms don’t have toilet paper - bring travel tissues. Some public restrooms require a small fee to use - typically 3-5 MAD (.30-.50 cents).

Epic Adventures Await

Responsible Tourism Should Benefit Everyone

Epic Adventures Await is a values-driven travel company built on the belief that tourism should be fair, ethical, and mutually beneficial. We create meaningful, small-group travel experiences while ensuring the people who make those journeys possible—our in-country partners—are treated with respect and paid fair wages.

Founded by Katherine Spencer Inskeep after an amazing journey to Morocco with a girlfriend in 2023, Katherine was inspired by firsthand experiences with local guides, drivers, and hosts who shaped deeply authentic travel moments and the intimacy of traveling with women friends. That experience sparked a vision for a different kind of travel company—one rooted in equity, transparency, and shared success. Morocco captured Katherine's heart and she couldn't wait to return and share her experiences with girlfriends. With Morocco Land Tours as her in-country partner, Epic Adventures Await was born!

Because transparency and ethics are our grounding values, we intentionally cap our profits so that what we earn is equitable to that of our local partners, treating them as true collaborators rather than suppliers. This approach fosters long-term relationships, strengthens local economies, and preserves cultural integrity. Our partnership with MLT is based on mutual respect and the deep conviction that we should not financially benefit more than the people providing our guests experiences.

We also believe in the power of small groups. While we could charge more or run larger tours, we choose not to. We’re dedicated to the magic of six adventurous women traveling together—sharing meals, stories, and life-changing experiences that connect cultures and create lasting bonds. Additionally, we believe our guests shouldn't overpay for extraordinary experiences. We want the opportunity to experience the wonder of Morocco to be intimate, accessible and affordable for our guests.

Join us. Epic Adventures Await...YOU.
